We Are Here to Draw Your Attention was a unique temporary art performance and installation by kids for kids. It happened at Mt Albert Rocket Park on Sunday June 5th, World Environment Day. Ben and Sam Hume, twin brothers who recently arrived from the UK to live in NZ, are the young artists that designed and implemented the project with some help from the children at the Mt Albert YMCA After School Care. The project had an environmental slant “Its partly about making the world a better place to live but also its about having fun” said Ben. "The outer space theme of the Rocket Park got us thinking about feeling like an alien in a new place. This has influenced our project as well" said Sam.
The project was facilitated by Cath O’Brien of Make Like A Tree “Children create art all the time as part of their play. The aim of this project (was to) make public temporary art by children part of our urban culture”
