Driven by the fascinating global phenomenon of ‘creative aging’, a collection of seniors will be danced their way to health and happiness in a very special dance show. Hunters and Gatherers performed in central Auckland supermarkets for FREE, to unsuspecting shoppers on the 24th and 26th of April, 2018.

Combining social commentary with a love for life, Hunters and Gatherers was a brazen performance inside central Auckland supermarkets. With a focus on sharing nuggets of wisdom while having fun, the show humorously reflected on how contemporary society acquires its food, often causing environmental chaos.

The six dancers involved in this light-hearted and refreshing 7-minute public performance clock in with an average age of 75. Wielding bows and arrows, fishing lines, and unique dance moves, this unusual troupe surprised local shoppers.

Hunters & Gatherers was performed by SeniorsDANCE Company and choreographed by Susan Jordan, Artistic Director of the Company.
