As part of the Albert-Eden Local Board's Events Broker programme, we held a series of workshops in June 2020 giving an overview of event management, assisting local creatives to feel more confident running events of all stripes. The workshops included:
Workshop 1: Getting started. Why are you running your event and what is the overall aim of it? What do you want to achieve and how do you get there? Who can you work with, and how do you find them?
Workshop 2: Planning the practicalities - money, timelines, people and tools to use. Behind every successful event is a whole lot of lists and planning. In this workshop, we’ll look at writing an event budget, where you can go for funding, how to write a planning timeline, and what kind of roles you need in your team. We’ll also look at some various tools you can use to assist with all of this.
Workshop 3: Health and safety and waste management for events - the un-glamourous but really important things. No-one wants an accident to happen at their event, so at this workshop, we’ll look at how you can put in place processes to try and avoid this happening. We’ll also look at how you manage waste, and get some ideas for how you can run a zero-waste event.
Workshop 4: Getting the word out: how to market your event. After you’ve put all this work in, you want people to come along to your event! During this session, we’ll look at the various techniques you can use to get people along.
If you'd like the notes from these sessions, get in touch with us and we'll happily send them on.
