Driven by the fascinating global phenomenon of ‘creative aging’, a collection of seniors will be dancing their way to health and happiness in a very special dance show. Hunters and Gatherers will play in central Auckland supermarkets for FREE, to unsuspecting shoppers on the 24th and 26th of April.
Combining social commentary with a love for life, Hunters and Gatherers will be a brazen performance inside central Auckland supermarkets. With a focus on sharing nuggets of wisdom while having fun, the show will humorously reflect on how contemporary society acquires its food, often causing environmental chaos. The six dancers involved in this light-hearted and refreshing 7-minute public performance clock in with an average age of 75. Wielding bows and arrows, fishing lines, and unique dance moves, this unusual troupe are sure to surprise local shoppers. Hunters & Gatherers is the next new work for SeniorsDANCE Company choreographed by Susan Jordan, Artistic Director of the Company. It has funding from the Albert-Eden Local Board and supported by Countdown and Pak ‘n Save supermarkets.
